A Mantel Clock with a Boy and Dog, Late 19th Century
The Mantle Clock
A French late 19th century gilt-bronze (ormolu) mantel clock in the rococo style. This trapeze-shaped clock is supported by four scroll feet, the lower part of the piece is symmetrically ornamented with rococo motifs.
It is surmounted by a gilt bronze sculpture of a seated young barefooted peasant boy with a jumping hunting dog by his side, both underneath a palm tree, which is made of laurel leaves and buds.
The piece is in good condition with a lovely patina. It shows a matt and burnished finish and is finely worked and chiseled.
