The French Sèvres Style Porcelain Plate
This French Sèvres-style porcelain plate from the 19th century is set in a gilt bronze mount, ormolu that features a Rococo base, rim and two handles with stylized foliage and c-scrolls.
The center of the porcelain plate displays a pastoral scene inspired by the paintings of the painter Jean-Antoine Watteau (1684-1721). This particular scene could refer to Watteau’s artwork of “The Love Song” (1717, National Gallery in London) or “The Singing Lesson” (1717-1718, Royal Palace Madrid).
