Silver Centerpiece German, Henninger & Co. Berlin, Late 19th Century
A German late 19th century, German silver also called "nickel silver" centerpiece by the renowned silver-plating company Henninger & Co. Berlin. From the square domed base, which presents eight elaborately worked partially scroll legs that show leave ornament, gathers another smaller square base featuring four eagle heads. Hallmarked with the following marks: 1. Maker’s mark “H. Co. Henninger” 2. An eagle. This type of iconography that relates on a neo-gothic style was typical for Germany at that time as it stood for a strong, unified state. The application of neo-gothic iconography was born out of patriotism and later nationalism. The piece is a very good example of chiseling and cast work. It is in good condition.
